The House
Georgia Tech Delta Chi completed building a new fraternity house on 5th Street in 2018. Until early 2017, the chapter had a very unique housing situation that included two different buildings which were adjacent to each other. Our current “Old House” was located at 170 5th Street, while our “New House” was located at 176 5th Street. The Old House was built in 1920 as a residential home and was later rented by the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority for a number of years. In 1997, the Georgia Tech Delta Chi Chapter purchased the 1,750 - square foot Old House as their first fraternity house.
As the chapter continued to grow and succeed, it was obvious that we needed to expand our housing needs. Fortunately, the lot next door to the Old House was available and we quickly jumped on the chance to obtain it. With the help of the undergraduates and alumni in an extensive fundraising campaign, we opened the 8,300 - square foot New House in January of 2005. Before the Old House was torn down, we accommodated 6 Brothers in the Old House and 27 Brothers in the New House. The newly completed house accommodates 47 Brothers, and features a chapter room, a dining room, a foyer/library, a commercial kitchen, and an expanded courtyard and front porch. Check out renders of the completed house and a few photos of our previous houses below, along with the donor board that lists the donations generously given by our alumni! |
