Reggae Weekend

In the spring a week before exams Delta Chi hosts our annual spring party, Reggae Weekend. Reggae, as it is known to brothers, has grown into more of an all week event including a crush invite party on Thursday night, a DJ party on Friday, and a band party on Saturday.

Preparations begin two weeks before with two "bamboo runs." Brothers drive for a night to a location where we can cut down bamboo and fill a U-Haul with poles. These poles of bamboo are used to decorate the entire courtyard and deck area by building lashed bamboo walls. Tiki torches are also set up, as well as a hot tub and a waterfall. This year's event setup even included a 30-foot tall paper-maché volcano that spewed steam and a Jurassic Park-style entrance to the party.

Reggae Weekend is one of the largest parties on campus, typically with several hundred individuals signing in throughout the weekend. With the exception of Thursday night, the party is open to anyone who knows a brother of the chapter.
